Privacy Policy for GA4, GTM & Consent Setup Checker Chrome Extension
Effective Date: October 29, 2026
Your privacy is paramount. GA4, GTM & Consent Setup Checker is built with a "privacy-by-design" approach. This Privacy Policy explains exactly how the extension operates and confirms that your data remains entirely your own.
1. Overview
GA4, GTM & Consent Setup Checker is a measurement and QA tool from GAfix.ai (operated by Neenopal Inc.) that inspects how the web page you are viewing is tracked. It reports the analytics and advertising platforms present on the page, the IDs they use, how each one was installed, whether data is sent client-side or server-side, the Google Analytics 4 tag configuration, the published Google Tag Manager container, and what tracking runs before and after a cookie banner is answered.
The extension operates entirely within your browser. We do not collect, store, track, or transmit any of your personal data, browsing history, page content, or tag configuration to GAfix.ai, to Neenopal Inc., or to any other server.
2. Information Collection and Use
GA4, GTM & Consent Setup Checker does not collect any user data of any kind. The extension does not require accounts, logins, or sign-ups.
- No Personal Data: We do not collect names, email addresses, IP addresses, or unique device identifiers.
- No Tracking or Analytics: We do not use third-party analytics tools, tracking pixels, or advertising identifiers inside the extension. The extension contains no telemetry of any kind.
- No Server Interactions with Us: The extension does not send anything to GAfix.ai or any GAfix server. The only external request it makes is described in Section 4.
- Processed Locally and Discarded: Information read from the page you are inspecting - such as tag IDs, tag configuration, cookie names, and the tracking requests the page has already made - is processed in your browser's memory, displayed only to you, and discarded when you close the extension panel.
3. Permissions and Local Browser Data Justification
To function correctly, GA4, GTM & Consent Setup Checker interacts with your browser in the following limited ways.
- Host Permission (http://*/* and https://*/*): Required so the extension can observe tags as a page loads. Tracking requests fire within the first few hundred milliseconds, before any user action, so the extension's read-only collector must be present from the start of page load in order to record which tags fired and in what order. The collector reads page data only. It never modifies the page's tracking, never exports your configuration, and never transmits anything.
- activeTab: Lets the extension read the configuration of the page you are viewing, and only when you click the extension icon. Results are shown for that tab alone.
- scripting: Runs the read-only collector in the page you are inspecting to gather its tag configuration: the dataLayer, the Google tag runtime objects, the tag loader scripts, and the tracking requests already made. During a consent test that you start, it is also used to click the cookie banner's own Accept or Reject control on your behalf.
- browsingData: Used only by the consent test, and only when you press Run. A consent test must begin from a clean state, so the extension clears cookies and site storage for the single website you are testing, then reloads the page to observe what fires before and after the banner is answered. It is never triggered automatically, and never affects any other website. Because cookies for that site are cleared, you may be signed out of it.
- storage (chrome.storage.local): Stores the results of your consent test runs locally so that the three runs - no answer, accept all, reject all - can be compared after each page reload. It holds platform names, cookie names, and request counts only. It never holds cookie values. It stays on your device, is never synced, and is removed when you clear the results or uninstall the extension.
4. External Requests and Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties, because we do not collect any.
The extension makes exactly one external request. To read a website's tag configuration, it downloads that website's public Google Tag Manager container script from https://www.googletagmanager.com. This is the same publicly available file the website itself loads in every visitor's browser. The request is sent without your cookies, and it contains no information about you.
No other network request is made by the extension. All other processing happens locally on your machine.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in extension functionality or Chrome Web Store requirements. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised Effective Date. Continued use of the extension after a change indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
